Hideaway's Grand Opening - A Huge Success!!!!!!

Thank you thank you thank you to all who came to the Hideaway's debut! We had such a great time. I know it was such short notice, but I wanted to get something happening as soon as possible. It's one thing to build the thing - now we have to keep it running! There will be a calendar of Hideaway's upcoming events posted on both the Hideaway's website, which is currently undergoing a redesign, as well as my own calendar here at johnkelly.biz. And I promise to give you a better heads up!


I'd like to give a special thanks to Steve Arvey, Jay Kiernan, Joe Milligan, Shannon VanAlsburg, Stan Arthur and Jenn Ohlsen for lending their talents and making Friday a night to remember and giving you a peak at what's to come. Another special thank you to Christian Hern for all his help not just behind the bar but actually building it too. Great job Christian... all around! Thank you Rob and Tammy Rehnke, Clyde Moreland and Bert Savell for the studio warming gifts...I just love em'. Bert, I'll save that bottle of wine for your first session... Cheers!


Another very special thank you to Bob and Mark from The Old Northeast Tavern and now "Pizza" place for providing all the food Friday night. Thank you guys so much. I'm sure you made a few new customers.... great job!


Thanks Jeff Martin for lending us your kit. We missed ya man. So sorry I scheduled it on a night Tim and Geni couldn't be there... "next one guys"!!! That very cool round table in the middle of the cafe btw was built by Mr. Tim Poole. Thanks Timmy!!!


Hideaway's next showcase event will feature Jose Valentino and his Latin Jazz band, including Grammy winner Lannie Battistini on May 15th. And Matt Butcher and the Revolvers will be coming in from Orlando on May 23rd for the Hideaway's first travelin' band showcase event. This event is sponsored by Rob and Tammy Rehnke and John and Trudy Cooper.

Not only will the existing

Hideaway client base now have an outlet for showcasing their music to family and friends, but our forward-looking vision says that this hot spot will be on your social calendar as THE place to see great music in a perfect environment....laid-back living room atmosphere complete with a stage and a bar! Join us for Hideaway Cafe's Happiest Hour...after 2 months of blood, sweat and tears, knocking down walls and getting to know our city's senior engineer and fire chief better than we ever expected, Hideaway Recording Studio's new Hideaway Cafe is ready to start bringing some great musical talent your way. Count on us to fill your social calendar at least once a month (soon to be once a week). We'll be showcasing some of Tampa Bay's finest hidden talent as well as bringing in singer/songwriters and bands from around the country for a "house concert" style approach to music.



Our $25 ticket price has been slashed for our first event.....so your $10 donation gets you in the door with free food (provided by Old Northeast Tavern's new Pizza endeavor) and drinks (don't forget to tip your bartender!)



Seating is limited so hurry and reserve your tickets now...50 is our limit...so be quick (get 'em in advance) as we're sure to fill up fast!



We have some great music on the docket, so come join us in breaking in the new bar and sampling a taste of what is to come!

I hope you're all having a wonderful holiday season - can't believe it's just 1 day away. The band and I have played a few private Christmas parties this month along with a few duo gigs for Tim and I and have had a really great time. Robert and Tammy Rehnke had their office Party at their house and asked us to play, along with a few other musicians and we just had such a blast. "You guys really know how to throw a good one"!!! We played our annual Lawyers Party (Barney Masterson Inn Of Court BBQ) a week or so ago - also a great time, and we have our last gig of the month this Saturday at The Old Northeast Tavern. So come and join us.


I'd like you all to say a special prayer this month for a couple of people that really need it. First, Nicole's (my wife's) grandfather, Bud "Poppy" Potter. Bud has been in the hospital for four weeks and is finally coming home today. He's very weak and has a long road to recovery. We also want to pray for Marty, Nicole's grandmother, who will be hard at work taking care of him (and with our help Marty!!!!!).


Another friend that needs your prayers this holiday season is Tito Valentino. Tito and family were also at the Rehnke Christmas party. Tito is going into the hospital for surgery this week and we will be praying for a successful and speedy visit. He's a strong fella and I look forward to jamming with him again soon.


So I wish you all a happy and safe holiday and don't forget that the John Kelly "The Stage" CD's make great stocking stuffers!!!!!

The Stage CD Release Party was a huge success and we had such a great time filling the Lyceum to capacity. The night is truly something I will remember forever - the highlight of my musical career....and to share it with so many great friends and close family was the icing on the cake. I enjoyed it so much that I'm already working on our next event. So stay tuned!!!!!!


To be able to have such a great time with music and to be able to get so many people together for a good cause...and something so close to home and then be able to give a little makes it all worth it for me! We of course wanted to celebrate some hard work that I'm so proud of, but it just had to have some bigger meaning. So I thank you all very much for being a part of such a special night. We raised some money for the Carlos Baldoceda Memorial Fund for which I'm sure his sister and family will be so grateful and we celebrated a CD that is, in its core, about friendship, family, love and loss.


The band has never sounded better and I want to thank them for always letting me do my thing and always delivering the foundation for these songs to have a way to be heard. We can't wait to play for you again and we hope you're enjoying your CDs, shirts and "cool hats". The John Kelly Band is being seen all around town now with the very pro designs that our girl, Geni, delivered! So I thank you from the bottom of my heart - all who contributed and supported - to such a special night.
